Minister of State in the Ministry of Public Works and Housing and three-time Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tano-North constituency, Freda Akosua Oheneafrewo Prempeh, has been appointed as successor to embattled Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah.
A statement issued and signed by the Director of Communications for the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, dated July 25, 2023, reads: “The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed the Minister of State for the Presidency and Member of Parliament for Tano North, Hon. Freda Prempeh as Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources. She takes over from Brother Cecilia Abena Dapaah”,
Ms Cecilia Abena Dapaah resigned last week after it emerged that she had sued her former “domestic helpers” for allegedly stealing large sums of cash in dollars, euros and Ghana cedis from her bedroom.
Many on social media and in the mainstream media wondered how he was able to amass such amounts of money.
Since then, the Office’s Special Prosecutor has arrested her and conducted a search of her home.
