The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdulahi Adamu, said on Tuesday that the National Labor Committee (NWC) has no role in the rise of the National Assembly leaders.
DAILY POST reports that the party’s National Secretary for Publicity, Félix Morka, had announced the ratification of the zoning formula proposed by President Bola Tinubu at the end of their meeting on May 8, 2023.
Remarkably, Adamu, who chaired the meeting, took a U-turn on Tuesday when he disowned the leaders of the National Assembly.
He categorically stated that APC NWC had nothing to do with the rise of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Speaker of the Senate and the rise of Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as other top officials.

His words: “You will get an update on the distribution of powers of the National Assembly, particularly the leadership of the chambers. The election of the main officials of the Senate by the President of the Senate and the Vice President of the Senate. The election of the President and Vice President of the House of Representatives has been determined and announced.
“I received a courtesy call on Saturday from the president of the Senate and his deputy. The following Sunday, I received his Spokesperson and Deputy Spokesperson coming to me for Sallah’s homage.
“But now I am hearing a rumor from the online media that there have been some announcements in the Senate and the House of Representatives. The national headquarters of the NWC party has not given any information of this type nor has it communicated about the election of the positions.
“And until we formally resolve and communicate with them in writing, which is the norm and practice, it is not our intention to break with traditions. So, any announcement made by the President of the Senate, the Vice President of the Senate, the Speaker or the Vice President, is not from this Secretariat.
“We are going to formally inform you that we are going to have a caucus, and there has not been a caucus for quite some time. The caucus has been reconstituted in accordance with the APC constitution.
“And we will discuss that with you as governors, you know your states more than we do. Although we are from the same state, the leadership is in you as governors”.
