YPP calls for relocation of Akwa Ibom election petition court to Abuja

The Young Progressive Party (YPP) has appealed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria to relocate the summons from the Akwa-Ibom Governorate Appeal Court in Abuja.

Mr. Egbeola Wale-Martins, the YPP National Publicity Secretary, said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

“Desperate times call for desperate measures, therefore we call on the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayade Ariwoola, to urgently move the ongoing Governorate Appeal Court in Akwa-Ibom to Abuja.

“This is to end the PDP’s desperation to bully everyone, including the court, into submission. It is important that the court continue to maintain neutrality, which is already threatened by the illegal actions of the PDP.

“Furthermore, we call on the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, to use the Akwa-Ibom situation as a litmus test and send a strong message to the police officers who have made themselves available as voluntary tools. in the hands of the state. government.

“Adequate security protection must also be provided to all our key witnesses and relevant YPP stakeholders in Akwa-Ibom,” he said.

Wale-Martins said the party was hopeful of winning the case if given the opportunity to prove their points in court.
