
A leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sir Marc Inyanagbo Wabara congratulated former Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akapbio on his promotion as President of Nigeria’s 10th Senate.
Akpabio, who represents the northwestern senatorial district of Akwa Ibom, won the votes of 63 senators to defeat his only rival, Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara state.
In a congratulatory message on Tuesday, Wabara expressed his confidence that Akpabio’s position will serve as a beacon of hope and light for Nigeria as a multi-ethnic entity.
He praised the new Senate President for having a passion for an equal society, adding that the development marks a positive move towards a collective Nigeria.
Wabara said he was confident that Akpabio would bring his wealth of experience as State Commissioner, Governor and Minister to influence the process of continuing to build a strong and virile Nigeria.
He wished the new Senate leadership success in assuming the challenges and responsibilities of their exalted offices.
