
The Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, issued the instrument of proclamation for the inauguration of the 8th House of Assembly of Edo State, the first session of which will be held on June 16, 2023.
In a letter dated June 14, 2023, addressed to the Secretary of the Edo State House of Assembly, State Government Secretary Osarodion Ogie said, “I am writing at the request of His Excellency, the State Governor of Edo, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and send herewith a proclamation under the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 for necessary action by the House of Assembly”.
The Governor’s notice to the Assembly reads as follows: “Whereas, Subsection (3) of Section 105 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, provides that the person elected as Governor shall have the power to issue a Proclamation for the holding of the First Session of the State Assembly immediately after the swearing in:
“Now, therefore, I, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, Governor of Edo State, in the exercise of the powers vested in me by subsection (3) of Section 105 mentioned above, and all other powers vested in me permitted in that name, I hereby proclaim that the First Session of the Eighth Assembly of the Edo State House of Assembly shall be held in the Edo State House of Assembly on Friday, June 16, 2023 in House of Assembly, Benin City.
“Given under my hand and the Public Seal of the State of Edo, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in the City of Benin, this 14th day of June, 2023.”
