Dirt on the immaculate Bawumia doesn’t make your candidate any better – Boako

A spokesman for Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Gideon Boako, expressed his dismay at the insults being hurled at one-time vaunted New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

It indicates that it is high time that people who support other candidates vying for the flagship position inform delegates and Ghanaians what they can do for the party and the country instead of being abusive and deviating from the core of the polls.

To him, the focus on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is wrong and he lends credence to John Dramani Mahama’s claims that the NPP will use the vice president and fire him.

“When Mahama said that the NPP would use Bawumia and then throw dirt on him, the NPP members said he was lying, so what happened now? That these same people are insulting and dirtying his personality?

“When we were in opposition and fighting for power, everyone in the party saw Dr. Bawumia as the people’s choice, an informed man who could lead us to power. He worked hard to make sure we came to power. In power, he has worked very hard to ensure that the government keeps his promises, but now that we are going to the primaries, people have changed their perception of him.

These same people who hailed him are now throwing dirt at him. They know the truth and they know the person who can represent and gain power for the NPP, but because of the personal interests of the people, they want to dirty Bawumia like they did Jesus Christ. If we do this, we are telling the people of Ghana that we are not sincere because we all know that Bawumia will be the best leader of the NPP.

“It is a contest and an exchange of ideas. It will be wise for supporters of other candidates to tell people what they can do. The focus and insults hurled at the once-acclaimed Bawumia are troubling. If you insult Bawumia, you are not a good party person,” she said.

He opined that party members are aware of the fact that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the best choice to lead and therefore his opponents have resorted to attacks on him just to make him unpopular, but “what God has written , it is written and he will surely be the next to lead, that’s why they are doing all these things.
