The robbers robbed an ATM from a convenience store in Chula Vista on Monday by breaking the store’s front window with a truck, removing the ATM and loading it into the back of the pickup, police said.

The robbery occurred at 4:07 a.m. at the Chevron gas station at Melrose Avenue and Orange Avenue, according to Lt. Lamar Barrett of the Chula Vista Police Department.

An employee was in the bathroom at the time of the robbery, which lasted less than a minute, the lieutenant said. The employee was uninjured.

Based on surveillance video of the robbery, Barrett said three or four suspects used a chain to pull the machine off the store floor and into the back of the Ford F-250 pickup.

The ATM contained about $2,000, he said.
