Cassette Beasts, the new monster-catching indie RPG, launched today on PC and consoles, and for a limited time, you can take the steam version 20% discount at Fanatical. This special launch week offer lasts until May 3 and applies to the standard and deluxe editions of the game. It’s also a much better deal than Steam’s 10% off introductory price.
Thanks to this agreement, the Cassette Beasts Standard Edition is down to $16 (usually $20), while the deluxe version is down to just $24.45 (usually $36). In fact, you’re saving around 33% on the deluxe edition, which again is more than Steam’s 20% discount. The deluxe edition includes a bonus digital art book, soundtrack, and costume pack DLC. Purchasing either version of the game also earns you an additional 5% discount coupon that you can apply towards a future Fanatical purchase.
Cassette Beasts is a turn-based RPG where players explore a mysterious island filled with strange monsters that you can catch using special cassette tapes. The game uses a 2.5D graphic style that mixes pixel sprites and hand-drawn character portraits with 3D environments. Unlike other monster taming RPGs where you fight monsters directly, in Cassette Beasts your main character transforms into the monsters you have captured, almost like a super sentai hero. Each monster has its own abilities to use in battle, traversing the world, and solving puzzles, and you can fuse the creatures you collect to create new, more powerful beasts, similar to the fusion system in the Megami Tensei series.
If that sounds like your kind of adventure, head over to Fanatical and grab Cassette Beasts while it’s discounted for the next week. The game is unlocked on Steam and can be played on Windows or Linux PC and Steam Deck. The PC version is also available on the Microsoft Store and can be found on the game pass for pc library. A console version will be released on May 25 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. There’s also a demo available if you’d like to try Cassette Beasts before you buy.
