Murders renewed: Northern Christian elders call for security intervention and Buhari

The Northern Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the various security agencies to take decisive action against the perpetrators of the killings in Benue, Taraba and South Kaduna states.

NOSCEF Chairman Engineer Oyinehi Ejoga Inalegwu, in a statement on Monday night in Kaduna, lamented the new attack by terrorists and urged President Buhari to save Nigerians from killings and destruction of valuables in different parts of the country.

The statement explained: “NOSCEF is concerned that the recent escalating wave of persistent and uncontrolled killings in Benue, Taraba and South Kaduna by bandits/herders appears as the Buhari administration’s parting gift to our people by rounding up its eight years. -rule of the year.”

The group expressed its dismay that with the security architecture in place, senseless killings of such magnitude are still being perpetuated without any counterattack by security forces.

The statement called on the security forces to checkmate the ugly trend and go after those who terrorize, kill, maim people and destroy property of citizens in different parts of the country.

The group called on all Nigerians to pray for God’s intervention to end the new wave of killings in the states, saying the new killings and destruction of property by gunmen were very alarming.
