Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company has started operating the first all-electric taxi service in Vietnam, named Green Smart Mobility Taxi (Green SM Taxi) last week, according to a news post by the company.
Green SM Taxi will be offered to customers in Vietnam first in the country’s capital Hanoi, and this will be followed by expansion to five more provinces and cities across the country this year, it said.
This EV taxi service is offered through two options: GreenCar, the standard service, and LuxuryCar, a premium taxi offer. The GreenCar service uses the VinFast VF e34 in the company’s signature cyan color, while the LuxuryCar service uses the VinFast VF 8 (formerly known as the fv e35) which looks finished in black.
The VF e34 is a B-segment sized crossover measuring 4300mm in length, 1793mm in width and 1613mm in height with a wheelbase of 2611mm and 180mm of ground clearance, with a claimed weight of 1490kg. . A single electric motor is rated at 147PS and 242Nm of torque, driving the front wheels. while a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery offers up to 300 km of range on a full charge, with 180 km possible with a 15-minute charge.
The VF8, meanwhile, is a larger SUV offering, offered at its debut with a choice of two powertrain options: a 204 PS/320 Nm single engine or a twin engine configuration producing 408 PS and 640 Nm of torque. Depending on the battery pack installed, the VF8 can achieve up to 300 miles of range on a full charge.
According to Green SM Taxi, the fleet will initially consist of 500 units of the VF e34 and 100 units of the VF8. GreenCar (VF e34) service pricing starts at VND 20,000 (RM 3.78) for the first kilometer and VND 15,000 (RM 2.83) for every 1 kilometer thereafter for the next 24 km. From kilometer 26 onwards, the fare for the VF e34 is VND 12,500 (RM2.36) per kilometer. Meanwhile, the LuxuryCar service used by the VF8 has a flat rate of VND 21,000 (RM3.97) per kilometer for the entire trip.
