Two PS1 RPG remasters look set to release soon across Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. For many, the PS1 was the golden generation of RPGs. This is a shot loaded with nostalgia, but it’s a common shot. And if you are one of the many game station Fans who believe this will be happy to hear that it looks like Suikoden 1 and Suikoden II remasters will be releasing very soon.
As you may recall, the remasters were announced six months ago, on September 13, 2022. Dubbed Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification, the remaster pairing was scheduled to release sometime in 2023 across the platforms. mentioned before. And this is still the official schedule. It is not yet known when it will fall in 2023, but it seems that soon.
As Gematsu reports, Suikoden I and II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars was recently rated for release in Taiwan. As you may know, games are not tied for release unless there is a release date announcement around the corner, a release, or both. That being said, Taiwan is usually the first to come out with these ratings. We don’t know why this is happening, but this means that the wait could still be a bit longer. If it were ESRB or PEGI, it would almost certainly mean something is imminent.
What the classification does not mention is PS5 or Xbox Series X | S. The remasters will be playable on these machines via backwards compatibility, but there’s no word yet on a release coming to any of the current-gen consoles natively. It seems unlikely that this will change at this point, especially if rating boards don’t rate these builds.
At press time, Konami has not commented on this rating and the speculation it has created. We don’t expect this to change for a variety of reasons, but if it does, we’ll be sure to update the story accordingly. In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think. Are you excited for these remasters?
