The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, is pleased to announce the appointment of Iris Junge as General Manager. As the newest appointee
Leading the executive leadership team, Junge will further the luxury hotel’s mission of providing unparalleled guest experiences while maintaining a dynamic environment for all employees.
Iris Junge, General Manager
Prior to this role, Junge served as general manager of the Allegro Royal Sonesta, formerly the Kimpton Hotel Allegro, in Chicago. He also served as Assistant General Manager for Hotel Allegro, where he supported the hotel’s general operations, finances, and the development of a high performance team. Originally from Germany, Iris has over 20 years of hospitality experience working with Wyndham, Hard Rock, Starwood and InterContinental Hotels.
Junge knew from a very young age growing up in Germany that he was attracted to the hospitality industry and particular. Growing up with a father who worked in the travel industry, Junge had many opportunities to travel and visit a wide variety of hotels. The experiences ultimately sparked a sense of enthusiasm for the travel industry and established his career path in hospitality, where he finds joy to this day.
“In assuming my role at The Gwen, I am excited to bring new ideas to the table and contribute to the continued success of this incredible property,” said Junge. “Hospitality is about building and strengthening relationships, and I look forward to inspiring our team and getting involved in the community to do great things in Chicago.”
Junge is on the board of directors of Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association, as well as on the Advisory Council of DANK Haus, a cultural organization located in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago. She also supports the IHLA Educational Foundation and is a member of the IHLA Women in Housing Chapter. Junge has a certificate from Cornell for sales growth and is a certified revenue management executive through HSMAI.
