Fifteen hands-on service projects and 21 collections are planned for this year’s Scandia-Marine Lions Club “Service Project Showcase Day”.
The free event will be from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday at the Scandia Community Center.
Service projects will benefit local, national, and international nonprofit organizations, including local schools, Sole Hope, Color A Smile, Gammelgården Museum, Global Health Ministries, Northwoods Humane Society, Children’s Minnesota, and the Wildlife Science Center.
“It’s a great way for people who enjoy volunteering to come together to do a variety of service projects in one place,” said Ann Rinkenberger, event organizer. “Some people choose to work on one project all the time, while others visit different workstations, so they can do a little bit of work on many projects.”
In addition, Lions Club members will collect a number of items for different organizations, including glasses and hearing aids for Lions Club International; non-perishable food for the Scandia-Marine food shelf; pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House; empty plastic pill bottles without labels for Matthew 25: Ministries and Lego sets for patients at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital.
The Scandia-Marine Lions Club will provide a free lunch for all volunteers.
