SPRING is here and if you’re desperately searching your closet for a weather-appropriate outfit but can’t find it, then we’re here to help.
Spring dressing can be difficult as it can be quite warm and cold, but these essentials are all you need.
Spring dressing is easy
Even if there are blue skies and flowers on the trees, there can still be a breeze, so layers are always a great idea so you can regulate your body temperature.
However, dressing for spring does not necessarily mean saying goodbye to parkas and thermals.
Our best plan of attack is to build a capsule wardrobe, now is the time to bring it into line with the spring season, and it just takes a few tweaks.
Swap out your insulated jackets for lighter designs, like a jean jacket, bomber jacket, or rain jacket.

Or swap out your wide-leg leather pants for a flowy midi skirt, or the latest trendy denim design, which gave us a lot of inspiration in the ’90s.
A pair of white trainers is always a classic all year round, especially in spring when the weather is not good for sandals.
Other layers like a lightweight cardigan, crochet jumper or sweatshirt, and a blazer are winning formulas, as you can wear them all together for warmth, or tie the sweatshirt around your neck and over your blazer for when the sun comes out.
Of course, it is also time to present the most important sunglasses.
We’ve curated the most stylish essentials for the perfect spring wardrobe, which you can add to your existing clothing collection if you already have these pieces, or start from scratch and start investing.
1. Denim jacket

A jean jacket screams spring/summer, because it’s lightweight and super versatile.
A jean jacket can be oversized, slim-fit, cropped, and in any number of different tints, so you can have one in every color, though our preferred variation is an oversized light blue jean.
Wear over dresses, pair with jeans, even shorts – just anything – for a lightweight yet durable layering item in the warmer months.

Midi skirts have been on our radar for quite some time, particularly the satin bias cut styles.
We’ve been wearing the chic midi length skirt for a long time, both day and night, but now it’s time for the return of the maxi variation.
A Maxi Skirt was a hit around 2010, and over 10 years later it’s back with a bang, and we’re not complaining.
A satin maxi skirt, or even the latest trend which is a denim maxi skirt, is all we can talk about, and they are perfect for dressing up or down to suit all occasions.

3. T-shirt/ Basics

We will never get tired of a fresh white t-shirt.
We have plenty of basics, but in our opinion, you can never have too many as they go with everything.
The M&S designs are a hit as they are made from 100% cotton, as part of the brand’s Better Cotton initiative, and come at a very affordable price of less than £10.
This style of jersey comes in a total of eight colors, but the white has sold over 100 times in the last 48 hours, so that’s saying something.

4. Linen shirt

Just as a white t-shirt is a wardrobe must-have throughout the year, a linen shirt is an infallible garment for the spring and summer months.
Come the summer that we live with linen shirts, since they are light, breathable and the perfect garment for those who want to feel a little more covered.
Layer loosely over a tank top and shorts, or a dress, even jeans, for a laid-back look.

A trench coat is another absolutely essential item when shopping for a spring wardrobe, as it acts as a formal layering item that you can wear with anything and instantly elevates any look.
The trench coat is perfect for going to the office, as well as for weddings, christenings, as it looks a little more luxurious compared to a denim jacket.

Summer evenings can be a bit chillyCredit: Adanola
Spring days can be windy and summer afternoons can feel chilly, so be prepared with a crocheted sweatshirt or sweater, even a crocheted cardigan, just in case, especially early morning and evening.
You can wear it over a camisole or T-shirt, and then when you feel too hot, simply tie it loosely around your neck or waist out of the way.

8. Jacket

A classicCredit: and other stories
A sleek black blazer is a fail-safe wardrobe staple that you’ll live in every season, year after year.
The laid-back Single-Breasted Blazer is a sleek style to elevate any look with ease, and can take you from day to night in a second.
Pair it with dressy pants, jeans or even wear it over a dress for any spring occasion like a wedding or christening.
You can pair it with anything that takes you from the office, to a shopping spree to late night drinks, all depending on your style.
Wear it up, belted for night, loosely layered during the day, or simply off the shoulders.

9. Sunglasses

A sure sign that spring has arrivedCredit: Jimmy Pretty
When you can dig out a pair of sunglasses, you know summer is on its way.
We love a square frame as it makes our faces look more feminine and petite, but this style has the added detail of a slight cat eye to give it a bit of personality.
When it comes to sunglasses, we also love tortoiseshell as it has a slightly softer aesthetic, compared to a deep black, but still goes with all outfits.

10. midi dress

We’ll live in this forever moreCredit: nobody’s son
We love a midi dress when it comes to the spring and summer months as they are so easy to style, just slip on and go.
You can dress them up or wear them casually with sneakers or sandals for an everyday look.
Nobody’s Child is the place to go when shopping for dresses, as there are so many designs, styles, and color variations to shop to brighten up any wardrobe.

A bomber jacket is the latest fashion trend, everyone is raving about it, in particular Zara’s cropped bombers with exaggerated shoulder detail.
However, oversized bomber jackets such as aviator designs are also very popular right now.
They provide a bit more warmth and protection from the elements than a jean jacket and trench coat, and are ideal for days out or dinners outside.
- Cropped bomber jacket, £49.99 from Zara – shop here
