Rapid KL has announced the discontinuation of its free T851 bus service from KL Sentral to parliament today, April 11, when the current parliamentary session ends.

He ‘Bas Parlimen’ was presented in February to bring people from KL Sentral and Taman Botani Perdana car park to parliament. It was to solve the problem of the lack of parking in the parliament. According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, every day he sits in parliament, an average of 2,000 cars drive in, but there are only 500 parking spaces.

“This means that three-quarters of the cars entering parliament will find it difficult to find parking unless you arrive very, very early. This also affects those who have jobs in parliament, including the media and civil servants, who are forced to stand in long lines every morning to get into parliament and get their security passes,” he said at the time, adding that the Parliament’s entry process can take up to an hour.

Provided by Prasarana at a cost of RM800 per day per bus, route T851 starts at the ERL exit side of KL Sentral and heads to the Taman Botani Perdana multi-storey car park before going to the parliament. Lake Gardens car park is the closest large car park to Parliament. The frequency is every 30 minutes during peak hours and every hour during off-peak hours.
