Lofi Girl Stirs Up Social Media As New Anime Boy Joins The Mix

There have been a few Youtube staples that have helped elevate the platform to new heights over the years. One of the bleakest and most relaxing happens to be the channel known as “Lofi Girl”. Seeing an animated girl hovering over a desk, her cat and her background taking pride of place, the channel would allow viewers to listen to some soothing tunes with the animation rarely changing. Now, Lofi Girl has thrown a huge curveball at fans by introducing “Lofi Boy,” or Synth-Wave Boy as some call it, and fans are over the moon about this great addition.

For those who may not be familiar with Lofi Girl, the channel started in 2017 and has since amassed a staggering twelve million subscribers on Youtube. Lofi Boy is a fine companion to his female counterpart, giving fans the chance to hear synthwave tunes played at a steady beat, 24/7. Thankfully, Lofi Boy won’t be replacing Lofi Girl, as the two will work in tandem to give viewers a choice between any of their musical tastes. There hasn’t currently been an animated project to explore Lofi Girl’s background, who she is, and where she came from, but it’s clear that the animated character has made her mark.

You can check out the new channel on Youtube below, with the official Lofi Girl Youtube making the announcement that the first additional channel will be added to its umbrella. As it stands, the animated project has yet to reveal if any additional characters/music styles will be created in the future, though based on the popularity of Lofi Girl, it might just be a matter of time.

The Lofi Girl and Boy have a style that is quite reminiscent of Studio Ghibli, as the characters work methodically on their respective projects that will likely never come to an end. Taking into account the followers that Lofi Girl has obtained, the twenty-four hour absence that promoted the arrival of this new character surprised many of her fans. As shown in the crossover video, the two characters are facing each other in different buildings, so maybe they could meet one of these days.

What do you think of the addition of Lofi Boy? Do you think his songs can live up to his predecessor? Feel free to let us know in the comments or hit me up directly on Twitter @EVComedy to talk all things comics, anime, and the world of Lofi.
