HiJiffy launches GPT-4 chatbot for hotels

World: Communication platform for guests HiJiffy has released version 2.0 of Aplysia OS, its guest communications operating system that will use the power of generative AI.

The technology will work directly across the hotel’s website, social media channels and messaging apps, supporting the entire guest journey before booking and after the stay.

Hoteliers will be able to configure answers to frequently asked questions, including the ability to import data from external sources such as websites, digital documents and more. With the added support of GPT-4, conversations will produce polished responses without the need to send a lengthy text based on pre-defined FAQs.

The chatbot will only provide responses based on hotel-validated content to minimize misleading responses, fabricated content, or off-topic information. The AI can also understand complex queries that may include more than one question or request, and infer the meaning of misspellings or incomplete sentences.

José Mendonça, CTO of HiJiffy, said: “By dispensing with the provision of specific and structured answers to instruct the chatbot on how to answer each FAQ specifically, all thanks to the power of generative AI, it will be possible to automate the vast majority of the common guest questions and requests with just a few clicks.

“The guest experience will be incomparably better as interactions will become more natural and engaging, simulating human-like communication. The average automation levels of the 1,600+ hotels currently using HiJiffy are between 80 and 85 percent, which is already an outstanding number. Now, with the new capabilities of Aplysia, we are confident that we will be able to successfully handle more than 90 percent of guest inquiries without the need for human intervention. This will have a massive impact on hotel operations.”

HiJiffy first released Aplysia last year. The beta version of Aplysia GPT-4 will soon be available to existing HiJiffy customers. Non-customers can join a waiting list.
