The couple have kept quiet about their plans despite the fact that the deadline to RSVP passed on Monday.
But sources say the Sussexes are now preparing to announce their plans after US President Joe Biden stepped down.
A source said: “All families are difficult, but this is not a normal family of course. Harry has a lot of questions about how the event will work.”
If they chose to attend, they would not participate in the procession after the service or join other members of the royal family working on the balcony.
It is understood that no invitation has yet been extended to the Sussexes’ children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The long-awaited announcement comes after a new book, written by royal author Robert Jobson, details explosive new details about the fractured relations between the Sussexes and the royal family.
He claims the Princess of Wales described the walk through Windsor with Harry and Meghan after the Queen’s death as “one of the hardest things she’s ever had to do.”
She told a senior royal that it was very difficult due to “bad feelings” between the couples.
The new book, called Our King, lays out the inside story of the Royals’ war with the Sussexes before, during and after the Megxit.
It also recounts how the King was frustrated with his youngest son and the Queen “baffled” by the couple’s criticism of the Royal Family, describing their behavior as “pretty crazy”.
Relations hit an all-time low after the Sussexes’ explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
