You cannot elect a bad PNP government and expect the NDC to police it, Ofosu Kwakye tells Ghanaians.

Former Deputy Information Minister Felix Ofosu Kwakye wants the people of Ghana to take the blame for where the country stands, too, and not just the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, it is the Ghanaian people who voted for the useless government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and therefore should not expect the NDC to keep an eye on it.

He indicated that they cannot blame the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for monitoring the government for which they queued and voted.

He made it known while speaking to the Accra-based Joy News after the NDC failed to reject nominees for ministerial posts and some Supreme Court judges appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He said that “first of all, the people of Ghana also have a responsibility to watch who they elect to office. You cannot go and elect a useless government and transfer the burden of policing it to another political party.

There’s a reason you get to vote. Nobody can tell me, there was not enough reason to give the electorates a pulse not to elect President Akufo-Addo. People like me for the better part of a decade have criticized him and talked about the fact that he will do exactly what he is doing in power.

Some people labeled us sharp-toothed babies, vilified us, and called us all sorts of names and somehow went to choose it. Today, he has put in place the worst government ever seen under the fourth republic, if not in all of our history. So the electorates must also bear their share of the burden that when they see a leader is wrong and cannot govern, they are not going to elect him,” he told Joy News.
