Rapid KL has announced new and extended peak hours for the Ampang/Sri Petaling LRT Line and the KL Monorail starting today, January 30. This comes after the discovery last week of a crooked track near Bandaraya LRT stationwhich has forced the closure of the tracks between the stations of Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya.

From Monday to Friday, the peak hours for the Ampang/Sri Petaling LRT Line and KL Monorail will be 6:30am to 10:30am in the morning and 4:30pm to 8:30pm at night.

During peak hours, the interval for LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line is every five minutes for the CBD and every 10 minutes outside the CBD area. Outside of peak hours, the interval is six and 12 minutes respectively, which also applies to weekends and holidays.

As for the KL Monorail, the frequency in peak hours is 7 minutes, the frequency in non-peak hours is 10 minutes, while the trains will run every 12 minutes on weekends and holidays.

Please note that this change in peak hours does not affect the LRT Kelana Jaya line or the MRT, which will be maintained from 7am to 9:30am in the morning and from 5pm to 7:30pm at night. CBD, for central business district, refers to the stretch between Chan Sow Lin and Sentul Timur stations.

Rapid KL is also rolling out a fleet of free shuttle buses that will run every 10 minutes depending on traffic conditions. There are three routes: LRT Hang Tuah – LRT Bandaraya – LRT Hang Tuah (15 buses), LRT Masjid Jamek – LRT Bandaraya – LRT Masjid Jamek (9 buses) and LRT Sentul Timur – LRT Bandaraya – LRT Sentul Timur (10 buses). Nearly 100 support staff members are on duty at the train stations to assist travelers.
