After the FazzioMalaysia, ASEAN neighbor Indonesia, gets another hybrid scooter, the 2023 Yamaha Grand Filano Hybrid Connected. Launched at an RRP of Rs 27.5 crore (RM7764), the Grand Filano falls into the same category Indonesian market price than the Yamaha Aerox 155 (NVX155 in Malaysia).
The Grand Filano is not new, having entered the Thailand market in 2018. However, the Indonesian market gets the latest Grand Filano model in its 2022 iteration that includes LED lighting all around, combined TFT and monochrome LCD meter, as well as a more elegant style. .
The Grand Filano is powered by a single-cylinder 125cc Bluecore engine with SOHC and EFI, mated to an automatic gearbox and belt final drive. Power is rated at 8.2 hp at 6,500 rpm with 10.4 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm with the hybrid battery providing electric power-start for quicker acceleration, especially useful when climbing hills or carrying a passenger.
Aside from the hybrid powertrain, the Grand Filano also comes with riding amenities including 27-litre under-seat storage that will accommodate a full-face helmet. Other standard equipment includes a smart key system, 12-volt outlet, front hood storage space, hazard warning lights and wide passenger foot pegs.
Stopping the Grand Filano is a hydraulic disc brake at the front and a mechanical drum brake at the rear, with 12-inch wheels shod with 110/70 tires front and rear. 4.4 liters of fuel are carried in the tank with the seat height set to 790 and the weight indicated as 100 kg.
What sets the Grand Filano apart is the fuel filler cap, located inside the front deck, allowing for easier filling without having to lift the seat, as is common on scooters. Yamaha’s Y-Connect app allows the Grand Filano rider to connect their smartphone and access information and features.
