
India handed a 90-run defeat to New Zealand in the third and final ODI match on Tuesday to complete a sweep in the series. The game which took place at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore saw Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Shardul Thakur star for India. Rohit Sharma (101 for 85 balls) and Shubman Gill (112 for 78 balls) hit centuries as India recorded 385 for 9 after New Zealand captain Tom Latham won the toss and opted to field. In response, the Blackcaps pooled for 295 runs as Shardul and Kuldeep each picked three wickets.
During the post-match introduction, a hilarious incident came to light where Yuzvendra Chahal could be seen joking with his teammate Kuldeep Yadav on the ground. As the left-arm spinner spoke to Mohammed Siraj, Chahal held Kuldeep’s ears behind him and shook his head.

With victory over New Zealand on Tuesday, India moved to the top of the ODI rankings, replacing England in command. India now has a rating point of 114 while the Three Lions have 113 rating points. Australia is in third position with a rating point of 112. New Zealand and Pakistan are fourth and fifth with rating points of 111 and 106 respectively.
Talking about the India vs New Zealand ODI series, the Rohit Sharma led team had outscored the guests by 12 runs in the opening game. In the second match, India recorded a commanding 8 wicket victory to seal the series beforehand.
