Kyogre and Groudon have been challenging Pokémon Go players in five-star raids since December 2017, but at Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn next month, they’re both about to get a primal power boost.
The Primal Reversion version of Kyogre and Groudon (special forms that debuted in the 3DS games Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire) will be available to all players participating in the Pokemon Go Tour: Hoenn, either live in Las Vegas or during the global in-game event a week later.
Primal Surge Field Research tasks will become available to event participants, eventually leading to a raid encounter with Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. Both Legendaries will also know unique moves when caught, with Primal Groudon knowing Charged Attack Precipice Blade and Primal Kyogre knowing Charged Attack Origin Pulse.
If Primal Groudon or Primal Kyogre are in a player’s party or set as a Buddy Pokemon, Pokemon of certain types will receive boosts while Primal Reversion is active:
- Primal Kyogre
- Increases the Attack of Water, Electric, and Bug-type Pokémon when in a group.
- Increases candy and experience points received from captured Water-, Electric-, and Bug-type Pokémon when set to Buddy Pokémon
- Primal Groudon
- Increases the attack of Fire, Grass, and Ground-type Pokémon when in a group.
- Increases candy and experience points received from caught Fire, Grass, and Ground-type Pokémon when set to Buddy Pokémon
Pokemon Go is now available for iOS and Android devices. Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn – Las Vegas is scheduled for February 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time.
