Former President John Mahama has demanded that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) take Ghanaians seriously about the promises they make to them. He wants the PNP to stop making slogans and take action.
Building on the Akufo-Addo-led administration’s promise to build some 111 hospitals to strengthen healthcare delivery, Mr. Mahama noted that the pledge is in its fourth year with none of the hospitals having been completed.
“The ‘Agenda 111’ hospital pledge is in its fourth year, yet not a single hospital has been completed to support the delivery of quality healthcare.
This is contrary to the lofty promise made in 2020. The NPP must learn to take Ghanaians seriously.
Enough of the slogans!” He wrote.
In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, President Akufo-Addo promised to build some 88 hospitals in various parts of the country within eighteen months to reinforce existing health facilities. The figure was revised in 2021 to 111 hospitals. But none of the hospitals have been finished for use.
