Benue state governor and leader of the state’s Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Samuel Ortom, led party bigwigs to kick off statewide party campaign rallies on Thursday.
State Lieutenant Governor Eng Benson Abounu, Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Gabriel Suswam, PDP gubernatorial candidate Eng Titus Uba and his running mate Sir John Ngbede joined the campaign.
Governor Ortom in his speech at the separate rallies in Ugba, Sankera and Katsina-Ala told party supporters that PDP gubernatorial candidate Eng. Uba is well prepared to replace him and take the state to greater heights.
He noted that Uba, as two-term Benue State House Assembly Speaker, has led the legislative arm without crisis, insisting it was a clear demonstration that he is someone with a big heart and has the competence. to run the state.
He invited the people to vote en masse for the PPD candidates in the State, emphasizing that they must pick up their Permanent Elector Credential at the INEC to vote at the polls.
He thanked the people for coming out in droves to welcome the election campaign, urging them to stay away from those who collaborate with the enemies of the state to deceive the people of Benue.
The Governor had previously met separately with traditional and religious leaders from the three local government areas where he commended them for their cooperation with his administration, particularly in efforts to contain security challenges in the area.
He vowed to lift the ban on motorcycle use in the area once traditional and political leaders assure him of the safety of life and property in his domain.
PPD Gubernatorial candidate Eng. Uba, in his speech, said that the statewide campaign tour, which began in Sankera, was significant as it was his maternal birthplace.
Uba revealed that one of his priorities in the Sankera axis, if elected, will be in the area of security and agriculture, stressing that he will build on the foundation laid by the Ortom administration.
He noted that Governor Ortom and Senator Suswam have facilitated campaigns for the party in the Zone A senatorial district because of the amount of infrastructure development in the senatorial district, stating that people have good reasons to vote for PDP candidates. .
