Wesley Sneijder, an Inter Milan hero, has questioned Manchester United’s approach to Wout Weghorst, calling it bizarre.
Sneijder isn’t convinced Weghorst is good enough for Man United.
Weghorst, who is currently on loan at Besiktas from Burnley, has become a surprising target for Man United in this January transfer window.
The 30-year-old has enjoyed an excellent loan campaign at Besiktas, although the Turkish club are reluctant to release him from his contract so he can join Manchester United.
When asked about Weghorst’s possible move to Man United on Dutch soccer program Veronica Offside, Sneijder replied: “Most certainly not! I would find it very strange.
“Maybe they have seen the trick with the free kick [in the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-final against Argentina]but I don’t think they fall for that in England anymore!
“In terms of a striker, is he really someone United are waiting for? I do not think.”
