MANILA, Philippines—The PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals took an interesting turn Tuesday as the Bay Area, which trails Barangay Ginebra in the championship series 3-2, reactivated guard Myles Powell.
Since then, Powell has been reduced to a bystander following a left foot injury sustained during practice before the playoffs.
The development was posted on the league’s website.
Powell was replaced by Andrew Nicholson, a 6-foot-10 big man who ultimately sprained his ankle in Game 3 of the best-of-seven game.
He supported the Dragons through eight games, averaging 37.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Once a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, Powell split the club’s elimination round with Nicholson through a special deal with the PBA.
It should be remembered that the American scorer fell 50 against Rain or Shine during that phase.
The Bay Area is looking to forge a winner-take-all clash when it takes on the darlings of the crowd this Wednesday at the legendary Smart Araneta in Cubao, Quezon City.
