A senior member of the AmaZulu royal family has been assassinated.
Prince Mbongiseni Zulu was shot dead on Thursday in Nongoma, in northern KwaZulu Natal.

The shooting of another confidant of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini comes a day before the Umgidi ceremony that will take place at the Enyokeni royal palace in Nongoma.
A royal family source confirmed to Eyewitness News the fatal shooting of Prince Mbongiseni Zulu, who was one of King AmaZulu Misuzulu’s confidants and one of the leading Zulu princes.

He was also part of the inter-ministerial committee for the coronation of King Misuzulu.
Zulu was shot by unknown suspects in Nongoma.
In September, Induna Dr. Dumisani Khumalo was shot dead near his home after leaving the reed-dancing ceremony he had attended at the Enyokeni royal palace.
At the same time, the royal family is set to celebrate the ninth Umgidi ceremony with the Nazareth Baptist Church in Enyokeni.
