Spiffed Up the Site
Posted in Blog
I was thinking how I could optimize the time I spent online. I spent a couple of hours reorganizing my site to align with my new direction.
Looking over what I’ve written and what I want to write, I have three distinct groups of readers I want to cultivate. Spillover is not a given. Most of what I’ve had traditionally published is AA literature with a romance theme, but it’s really women’s fiction at heart. That’s what I like to read, everything from Bernice McFadden to Carl Weber to Mary Monroe and Connie Briscoe. This is fiction with AA characters, fiction that appeals to people who frequent RAWSistaz.
I’m like to write erotic interracial romance with black heroines. Those readers are wonderfully loyal, but don’t necessarily also read AA fiction. They are a distinct group. Great books are still somewhat hard to find in this small niche, but rapidly getting easier.
I adore paranormal, and can’t give up writing it. I also have strong opinions as a reader. I would like to cater to my paranormal readers also.
I’ve set up three newsletters, and I’ll post each one monthly. They will be mainly my reads and recommends, because I read a lot, but I will also touch on my projects and anything I’m doing new. I really only want an intimate group of smart subscribers who are into the sort of books I write within each area. So don’t subscribe just to subscribe. I will be posting the newsletters as blog posts a month after they go out to my subscribers, so site visitors will be able to see most of my content later. I have one other newsletter, a general news one for my customers which will be monthly, short and sweet. Sign up for that one if you’re not one of my readers.
I’m really working at Tweeting more, so feel free to follow me. I’ll post an interesting link there rather than post about it here like I used to do.
I raised the price of Merry Christmas, Baby to 99 cents because I don’t want Amazon to match the free price here and couldn’t figure out any way to get around it.
You have to go all the way to the bottom of the page to submit a comment and it is killing me trying to fix it, so maybe that is telling me something. I’m going to get rid of comments. I’d rather people use the contact form and contact me personally with comments. If you want me to reply, I will.
