The Look of Love

In The Look of Love, the heroine is well over 200 pounds.  The issue is weight, because that’s the real world.  I know some readers don’t like to read a fat heroine obsessing about her weight, but be for real.  How many 225 pound women in her situation would be totally confident about her body when the hero is not a chubby chaser?  His ex-wife and past girlfriends are model-slim. He’s a plastic surgeon! The book works though.  It won RT’s best multicultural award for..was it 2000?  I think so. This is how it...

Too Hot To Handle

Jenny and Jared aren’t cookie-cutter perfect.  But those are my favorite sorts of characters to write.  The idea for S.C.O.R.N.E.D. and the seven commandments came after I’d noticed the proliferation of how-to-find love books and skeptically wondered about the validity of love by the book.  Love is a flighty and unpredictable thing, unable to be caught, caged or hemmed in by rules of any sort. Jenny and Jared’s story completes the last book of the lives and loves of the Eastman and Cates families–and the Reynolds...

A Magical Moment

This is how it goes… Chapter One “First, I’d strap my husband on the bed with leather restraints.” Denise Whitton’s black leather pump beat a nervous rhythm against her briefcase. “How would you get him on the bed? Would you drug him?” Teensy asked, her meaty fingers digging another handful of potato chips from the large bag cradled on her lap. Denise’s foot stilled. She shifted uncomfortably on the sofa between Teensy, an unkempt woman who must have weighed at least three hundred pounds, and a...

Heart’s Desire

Monica Jackson spins a dark tale of political intrigue that will keep you locked into the pages until the very end. ~ Phoebe Imel Will drama and desire make her dreams come true? This is how it goes… Chapter One Kara Smith mustered every ounce of will in her body and soul not to sob aloud. She knew the sound would upset her mother. She smoothed her mother’s damp curls and whispered softly, “Mom?” Her mother’s eyes opened, first filmed over with pain, and then overflowing with love for her daughter. The hospice...
